Where is Your Jewelry made? Inside Jewelry Supply Chain

Chinese Jewelry Manufacturing: Our Honest Approach

In today’s jewelry market, many global brands source from China — whether openly or not. In fact, China accounts for over 12% of global jewelry exports, and its jewelry manufacturing industry is worth over $130 billion.* From high-end ateliers to small workshops, it’s a hub of both craftsmanship and large-scale production.

So… is “Made in China” good or bad?

It depends. China is home to some of the world’s best jewelry artisans and technical manufacturers, with decades of experience and highly specialized skills.

However, the rise of “dropshipping” and mass-produced, non-designed goods has flooded the market online. Many brands don’t design their own jewelry at all. They buy wholesale or use white-label catalogs, rebranding generic pieces and marketing them as “handmade” or “designed with love.”

Finding balance in modern jewelry

We’re originally from China, and studied in TU Delft, and now live in the Netherlands as home for years. We enjoy making jewelry and objects by hand. It’s how our brand, EenPorcelain started. Yes, we still handcraft some pieces ourselves here in the Netherlands today but as our ideas keep driving us to explore more materials, shapes, and techniques.

We believe modern jewelry can live between two extremes: not entirely handmade, but also not mindless mass production. Our goal is to strike the balance — between industrial precision and personal artistry.

Here’s how we do it differently:

With our culture backgrounds and experiences in design and arts, we insist to find good materials and reliable makers. After visiting multiple factories, testing samples, we now work with several trusted partners in China.

  • We focus on design and work closely with our makers to bring them to life.
  • We make small batches to ensure both quality and uniqueness.
  • We add hand-painted details to every piece.
  • We work directly with makers — no middlemen, no fake stories.

Those collections are not mass production but also not 100% handmade. We believe in something in between: quality you can trust, at a fair price.

In Europe, Built on a global vision

Yes, our roots are in China but our home is in the Netherlands — and we’re proud to bridge both worlds. To us, our Chinese supply chain is not a secret, but a strength. It allows us to offer jewelry that’s unique, well-crafted, and in good quality — something we hope you’ll wear with pride.
